THE TRANSIT OF SATURN IN CAPRICORN

日本語訳はこちら

When Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008, two important events could be mentioned as key signals of this important transit: the massive world financial crisis, and the victory of Barack Obama as president of the USA. The first event provoked a basic change of perspective about the system of economic security represented by banks and investors; the second proved that, against of kinds of prejudices and taboos, a black man could have access to rule the most influential country in the world. Pluto deals with the power of money; Saturn, ruler of Capricorn, is associated to political dominion.

Whereas Pluto is the planet of regeneration, Capricorn is a sign associated to building up and maintaining structures of responsibility and safety (being the president of the USA, banks); once Saturn has established a new structure, it will try to preserve it no matter how. Thus, this transit of Pluto, which will last until 2024, combines transformation with authority and responsibility; the arrival of Saturn in Capricorn confronts the two most radical planets of the zodiac. The issue is a struggle of power.

But any contradiction, in serious astrology, is only an appearance; the zodiac is a mandala with symbols in constant movement, an image of beauty and perfection; the challenge for anybody fascinated with astrology is to be able to see the harmony underneath the conflict. In the case of this transit, we have to understand that, in fact, Saturn and Pluto are working together to transform old deficient structures in order to help mankind and push forward evolution, no matter how painful the strife might be.

To understand and appreciate the dynamics of Pluto in Capricorn, we have to track the transits of the ruler of Capricorn; Saturn in Virgo, for example, imposed a more efficient system for managing banks and economy in general. It would be too long to write a list of key events associated to Saturn in the different signs since 2008; let us just mention the emergence of the terrorist ISIS state while Saturn was in Scorpio (sign ruled by Pluto), or the migrant crisis when in Sagittarius (sign of foreign regions and migration); events like these have a long lasted effect and nobody can deny that they are transforming the world and the balance of power.  The idea I want to convey is that while Pluto is in Capricorn, the transits of Saturn set the general tone at the personal, social and political levels; these transits make targets clear, and help to direct the transformation of Pluto in an efficient way.

The recent entrance of Saturn in Capricorn, plus the eventual conjunction with Pluto, is a tremendously important transit; we will have to deal with the consequences of the changes and crisis that started since Pluto went into Capricorn. This notion is valid for social historical situations (transpersonal) as well as for the personal and individual domain; at the beginning, the panorama might seem rather gloomy, as Pluto, Saturn, Scorpio or Capricorn, are not cheerful symbols; the tone might be rather melancholic as Saturn is the symbol of melancholy. But on the bright side, fulfillment and atonement will be the key words; those who have struggled and worked hard will feel satisfied; those who were confused about their targets will see more clearly, and those who have neglected or avoided to take responsibility will be pushed by Saturn to update their lives in a practical way.

When we keep things on the right track, Saturn helps us to make the best of them, otherwise, Saturn becomes very strict and severe until we understand what we are neglecting and thus take responsibility; as for Pluto, he only cares about transformation, his action is irreversible, whatever the cost. We can negotiate and haggle with Saturn, never with Pluto.

At the practical level, we can learn a lot by observing what happens in the social and political realm because many governments and chiefs of state will have a hard time; I think that there will be strong reactions against fake news and untruthfulness. At the personal level we have to keep well grounded, avoid procrastinating, and set very clear targets.

I am looking forward to opportunities through a workshop and individual sessions to explore not only the theme above but more. I will see you all again in May.
